Hello,

We have a very old FoxPro for DOS application that is
using ?? and ??? style commands to send printer codes
directly to the printer as well as sending the lines of
output necessary to print diskette-style labels. The
labels come on rolls of tractor feed paper.

We have converted our application from DOS to Windows NT
4.0 running under Visual FoxPro 5.0a. Now it appears that
everytime that we do something like:

set printer to default
set printer on
set console off

??codes....
??label lines...
...
...
??chr(12) for a formfeed.
set printer to

What happens is that the damn Windows driver for this
Panasonic ejects the label but it thinks that the page size
is "LETTER"!! Thus for each 'print job' that follows the
sequence of commands above, the alignment is messed up
with the form eject. The default system variables are kept
the same but even trying to mess with a few of them did
not seem to help.

Alternatively, we tried using VFP 5.0a's LABEL FORM and made
a label with MODIFY LABEL generator. It too has the same
problem! We tried changing the Page Layout but there are no
page sizes that seem to fit with the size of these labels.
They all seem assume that we're printing to a nearly full-sized
8 1/2" by 11" page that contains several mini-labels.

The printer seems to be ignoring all attempts to set the
page size either using printer codes directly and overriding
whatever Windows default page size (Letter) has been selected.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
