Ed,

You'll get it because you deserve it - you would get my vote (yea, that's worth a lot!) despite cracks like the one given ( and for the second time, too).

To 'clarify' some things:

1) A SP, seems to me, is for FIXES to broken/published-but-undelivered-features, NOT for WISH-List stuff;

2) You have not seen a single word to the negative about SP3 from me;

3) I don't expect any vendor to "work with me". But I do expect, if they have a "wish list" facility and if they claim to subscribe to other specific wish lists (as has been implied for the UT wish list), that they will take them seriously. There is positively *no* evidence to support this. Yes, I know that MVPs say otherwise, but it more looks like they have a different 'stream' through which to supply their "wishes" and that it *does* get attention.

4) It was about 11 months ago now that Mr. Gates himself stated that MS had gotten too far from its clients and that things needed to be done to address that. How has the VFP team improved its communications with its clients?

5) Your knowledge/skills regarding a HUGE variety of MS (and no doubt other vendor's too) is extremely deep - way beyond the "average" person, even one who may be highly skilled at FP/VFP.
I feel that in many ways I represent the more common user of the product. In fact I go out of my way to keep my systems and components "virgin" - as delivered in the box by the vendor and with *no* add-ins of any kind.
It is from this perspective that all of my comments are derived.

6) I am not ready to toss my heavy investment in FP and even heavier investment in VFP. Rather, I would rather press for improvements. You may remember that my biggest gripe has always been the documentation supplied with the product. It remains so, and to my eyes things are getting worse and not better. For instance many of the GURUs have written about the lack of documentaton for the Foundation classes and related. Since their published objective was to make novices more productive far more quickly, just how can that happen when the documentation is so lacking?

I feel better now. I hope that you do too.

>Funny; if anything, my response is likely to help make it a virtual certainty that I won't. MVP status isn't granted on the basis of being an MS supporter; its a recognition given to someone for being consistently helpful and correct when providing help to other people in the on-line community.

>I think Richard Felcher, who I finally ran into here at DevCon, is by far a better and more likely MVP candidate than I'd be! I'm too easily annoyed by people whining and complaining without doing something positive.
>
>I don't know, Jim; if I felt that I couldn't do what needed to be done with a product and that the vendor wasn't willing to work with me, I'd change to something else where the vendor was more interested in my input. Fortunately, with VFP, I don't have that particular problem.
