>>The Sportster is hard wired on COM2 (2f8 irq 3) and the other modem is a PCI and can only run PNP. It uses it's own driver to install COM3 and had on conflicts. I cannot remember the exact numbers as we had to rip it out this morning. The server began to lock up ( I think from WinFax Pro problems but I removed the modem also just in case ). I have used these PNP modems sucessfully befor on other NT machines.

>Well, speaking from personal experiences, your problem might lay in the PCI modem. I've hat lots (and I mean LOTS) of clients with PCI modems who would lock up their system, connections, etc. As soon as they put in a ISA modem, everything works like a charm. You might want to just try an old ISA modem (even a 14.4Kbps!) just to give it a try and see if the problem remains.

OK I have plenty of old 14.4 modems at home. I'll let you know what happens.
