You're right, sometimes things doesn't change a lot over time, or only superficial.
My first experience with the mainframe was really iritating because i had to discover that the old paper cards with holes on them were still alive, but on the display. The JCL for IBM MF has to follow almost the same layout rules as in the old times when you had to punch holes... I thougt all these stuff is history.
I agree with you about the LAN people ... :-)
