We are using FTP now through VPN, but you can't secure an FTP session - I know VPN is secure. But, I want to give my users the ability to transfer files without the expense and trouble we have to go through now (we have a deal with MCI where the users dial an 888 number and become a node on our LAN - once they are there, we FTP the files).
If we had a complete internet solution, we could buy our clients an internet access account (those that don't already have one) and save the company thousands of dollars monthly in phone fees.
Because of the nature of our business (medical billing), we must have the files as secure as possible.
