>I have had similar problems with a very wide (landscape) report. Fields would truncate no matter how large a value I used. A value of about 180 should have been sufficient. I never solved it. For my more normal - sized (portrait) reports, an _ASCIICOLS value of 110 works fine.

I've never managed to produce an ASCII file as I want to with VFP. My problem is usually extra blank lines between rows, it seems the VFP is trying to produce the file laid out as much as possible as the normally printed report would be - which isn't what I want.

With FP 2.5/6 for DOS/Windows, it was possible to generate reports formatted for both DOS & Windows. To get a correctly (i.e. no extra lines etc) from the Windows version, you manually selected the DOS platform version of the report before selecting the ASCII output. Unfortunately, this facility has disappeared with VfP.

I too, would like any information on getting a successful ASCII output file, without need to modifying fonts & system variables.

Sorry I could only report my failure & not be of help.
Paul
