I have the same versions. There could be any number of problems but I highly doubt the cause is restricted to the VFP/VSS combination. Here's an example of one of my projects you can compare to and see if it gives some ideas:

VFP 6.0 SP3 on local drive PII 200 with 64M RAM
VSS 6.0 Database on Netware server and VSS 6.0 client on local machine (connected with 100mbit ethernet)

Project (under source control i.e. PJM file in VSS) contains:
1 program under source control managed through PM
23 forms under source control managed through PM
12 reports under source control managed through PM
2 class libraries under source control NOT managed through PM (I use VSS Explorer for these because they are used for multiple projects)
1 database with approx 30+ tables NOT under source control

All files, when checked out, are on my local drive. This project takes approximately 8-10 seconds to open. HTH

>Version 6.0 sp3 of VFP and 6.0 of VSS. I did try packing the project as well as DBC with a slight impovement in speed, but not much.

>>What version of VFP and VSS? I've been using both since version 5 and though a project under source control does take longer to open I've never had delays like this.

>>>Has anyone else had performance problems opening VFP projects which are under source control using Visual Source Safe? We have the source safe database on a fast server with multiple 100mbit cards to the network and it still takes anywhere from 2-8 minutes to open our projects. Suggestions?
