without looking after your original problem, there is a simple way to fire methods with SETALL if you got VFP 6.
Select a property of your controls or add a new one. Then assign an ASSIGN_METHOD to that property with CLASS...+EDIT PROPERY menu. When you now assign a value to that property with SETALL at run time, every control that has the value set will run the ASSIGN_METHOD .
