Tom,

The problem with the weighing scale is that the serial port has to be initialised every time a weighing operation takes place. Running MODE from Foxpro did not work, but I wrote a little program in QBasic (of all languages) in which one _can_ initialise the serial port.

This works well when RUNed from FPD, curiously enough, only if RUNed from a desktop program, not if any windowing is involved.
Why, do not ask. I would not know. I dislike it this situation, but for the time being the client is happy.

But comes Novell 4.1, and my little device does not work anymore.

I guess there must be some memory swapping done by FPD that hinders the initialisation. In fact I guess that what I am really looking for is Call that would initialise the serial port.
