Hi. Just catching up after getting back in town. I still support some clients that prefer the speed and stability of DOS, not to mention the grossly smaller EXE size of Clipper. Here's what I know on this: Last version of Clipper is 5.3b, and it has replaceable database drivers (RDDs) that allow using different data file types, including FoxPro CDX/FPT. The best linker to use with Clipper is called Blinker -- and it can link to a true 32-bit EXE with protected mode memory management. As far as I know, however, the RDDs from Computer Associates are limited to FP-2.x, and do not support VFP tables or databases. I have had some problems and inconsistencies using the RDDCDX driver, so beware -- on pack and/or reindex sometimes the link to the CDX was lost. There are some 3rd party RDDs -- notably SIXDrivers and some others whose names escape me at the moment, that may be more robust. Try the NETLIB.COM website for some links to the remaining Clipper vendors. There is also a 'new' compiler being advertised called "XBASE++" that is suppossed to be Clipper compatible, 32-bit, and has a GUI interface. Its a little pricey, so I haven't gone any further than that. Programmer's Paradise and others have it. Programmers Supershop I think carries some other RDDs, or use the website above to find other vendors.

HTH
