Thanks for reply. I don't only need to check duplication. I want to check date
overlapping etc.(Please read previous messages of this thread). Anyway,if i want
to go with your suggestion than can I call a UDF in the expression for candidate index ?

hi Mark,

what about declaring your date fields as candidate index. Then all checks would be handled by VFP, wich shouldn't allow you to have double entries.
