>About 3 years ago I purchased VFP 5.0, worked with it a little bit then shelved it for a couple years due to extenuating circumstances. I started in with it again about 6 months ago and have noticed oddities(potential bugs) with it (to say the least). I know I'm a full version behind, but I'd like to get comfortable with this before moving on (in deed, if I have to). The version date I own is August 21, 1996. Are there any upgrades to this version available (without going to 6.0) and if so where can they be obtained?

VFP 5.0a is the latest version. When the "a" upgrade was offered, you could order the CD from Microsoft for a nominal fee ($20 or so). It may still be available.
The transition from VFP5 to VFP6 is very easy. VFP6 has some new stuff in it (additions to the IDE, a few OO nuances, etc., etc.), but you won't be forced to learn and use the new features right off the bat. If you know VFP5, you'll be able to be productive in VFP6 almost immediately.
