Jim I agree with you regarding the general inelegance of public variables... however in the cited case this IS a more elegant method than scattering public variables, I believe that the question in point was regarding legacy code which dealt with public variables. suspect if the author were designing this from scratch there would be no need for the dreaded PV. I must admit that I do create at least one PRIVATE VARIABLE in my apps as an object reference to my AppObject. If you know of a way to get around this dangerous loose cannon I would appreciate the tip.
