Thanks for your help. if the controls are bound to a table/view you can just check the value in that field of the 2nd control if not this.parent.parent.columnX.controlY.whatever may do it (though I never tried it) ColumnX is the column where the other cell is and controlY is the name of the current control that is used in that column Arnon
