Criss,
Sometimes if a project is open that contains the database in question you won't be able to get exclusive use of the DBC. Close the project, then close VFP. When VFP opens without the project you SHOULD be able to lock everything.

If you can't, check DISPLAY STATUS to see if anything is open/locked/etc.
