Yes, ugh...I don't know if there is a way, outside of saving each sheet separately in Excel. Though you could try automating it with OLE automation server, and working backwards:

Usually, we want to export vfp to Excel, and many of us have been working with this in recent months...But I think it would be possible to do the reverse, also, opening the Excel workbook/sheets from vfp, and copying the cells to vfp tables...if you're familiar with OLE vfp-to-Excel, this might not be very difficult. If not, it will take some learning of basics before attempting...
