It's a whole new mindset in my opinion, and like everybody else said... once you get past the culture shock you'll love it. I really like the concept of an interactive & editable knowledgebase. For example, say you need to get familiar with a new arena, like data warehousing. With the threaded forums, you'll do a search and get everything and anything, and have to wade thru all the spin off discussion to get the few good kernels of useful info. With the Wiki, you search and get like a spec sheet on the topic that's a group compilation. Just the facts man... gotta love it, especially on concept and theory stuff. If there's mis-information posted to a threaded forum, you need to read everything to make sure somebody didn't get corrected. On the Wiki, the participants wipe out mis-information when they see it and replace it with correct info.

Now I still think threaded forums definitely have a place & serve a need. The promote discussion with is more helpful for certain issues. Plus they serve the purpose of realtime Q&A for the "how do I..." issues.
