The UT's own Ed Rauh is probably the original source of that. He wrote both the articles for the UT and MS originally.
DCOM95 is available for download from the MS site, and you can distribute it. Win98 includes it so you don't have to apply it to those machines. BTW, SP3 is well worth getting. It resolves a number of these sorts of problems, plus problems with HP printer drivers, and includes the new DataSession object.
