We have a semaphore table that records the user name and date/time for specific forms. The record is then cleared & deleted when the form is closed normally. We check for an existing record each time so if the form was closed abnormally (by power failure or Ctrl-Alt-Del for example) the record is simply overwritten.

A simple grid or browse will show you which users are logged on to the table. Any 'old' records can be deleted after checking their date/time stamp. If your table is always used in one or more forms (not from the command box) this approach would work.
