I've got a difficult one here - we've tried hard to solve it, but unfortunately we didn't succed.
We have 2 client/server sites, one using Sybase and the other SQL/Server 6.5 with Visual FoxPro 5.0 as a front end.
Both Sybase and SQL/Server systems are have problems with the tempdb filling up. It is error 1105 is SQL Server 6.5:

"Can't allocate space for object syslogs in database tempdb because the logsegment is full. If you ran out of space in syslogs, dump the transaction log. Otherwise use ALTER DATABASE or sp_extendsegment to increase the size of the segment".

If we run a large import/process it teminates because the tempdb is full (and we have set the size of tempdb from 500Mb to 1.5Gb!) and cannot continue applying transactions to the server.
One person has told us that it is because we are not sending a COMMIT command to Sybase.
Another person said to look at the SQLGETPROP(0,'Transactions') and it should be 1 (which it is).
This does not seem to be the problem. Can anyone point us in the right direction?
