I agree with Tim in that VFP can make a good backend for an internet database. If your data is located near your web server you are not facing the bandwith limitations of a file server database. Plus the VFP engine if fast and easy to maintain.
On the other hand, if you need to marshall data back and forth through HTTP like with RDO, ADO is what you'll need. Once ADO comes into the equation, VFP is not necessary.
I like VFP for 1 and 2 tiered apps, but I think VB COM makes better sense for distriburted internet apps.
