Since posting this query - I've downloaded and installed the sp3 pack, deinstalled and reinstalled the whole kit and caboodle - twice - leaving the sp3 out of it the second time because it produces an error with genmenux.

After all that, the 'Cancel' behaviour remains exactly as initially observed! The best you can do in this situation is trace the code until it issues the cancel and then you at least know what line its objecting to. Sometimes the fault is obvious and other times we can only deduce by trial and error what its objecting to. Either way, this aint exactly "state of the art" debugging!
