Hi Ken:
Thanks for your response, I looked at the XMLHTTP object and I see how you can write back the file to a ASP. I'm still not convinced why, for an internet database, you would want to use XML rather than RDS. Can you elaborate a little futher? This stuff is all new to me.
I'm working on a prototype system that uses ADO in a VFP COM object to connect to a VFP database with ODBC. The web pages use RDS dataspace control to marshall recordsets back and forth. It took a while to get the manual binding working, but once I got that working the rest just fell in place. Now I have the capability to query a database, and use ADO functionality on the client. I have not but this application into service, and I don't have any other experience, but looks like a great concept.
Am I still better off with XML? Are there things I'm not aware of that will eventually surface?
Getting confused with all these technologies, I would like to commit to one before I start internet projects.
Thanx,
Charlie
