I'll add to what Mark offered:
- Make sure that the server is started (OK obvious but you never know)
- If you in another Domain, make sure that the appropriate trusts have been established
- Can you ping the server? (if TCP/IP is installed)
- Can you use MAKEPIPE and READPIPE to create a pipe between the two computers?
