Hi Jim - It's mandatory to have a current AV at home, you're not allowed into RAS without it. What Joseph said is about right...RAS is R/W here, so home users can infect the central facility, and in fact, have done this in the past...

It's largely just extra security, though...we've had our public web site hacked into here (big embarrassment!), and now our security people are leaving no turn unstoned :)
