I have a client that wants to embed attachments (word, excel, etc. files) inside of Oracle vs. pointing to an actual file on the server. I played around with the long raw field writing to a Gen field in a VFP remote view and it took so long I thought the PC hung up. I switched to a memo field (append memo/copy memo commannds) and let it run. It took 5 minutes to load a 1.3 MB DOC file. (A 31kb file took 5 seconds).

Does anyone have experience with this and have any suggestions? Using Personal Oracle 8.0, VFP 5.0a

P.S. I ran the query with the Fetch Memo option checked. If you uncheck it, the query runs a lot faster, but if you want to view it then a 1.3 mb file still takes 5 minutes.
