Hi!

Changing an IDE hard drive usually is straight forward. However, I've found differences in how the BIOS looks at the drive. So it does depend on what version hardware (MB) and BIOS you have. Remember there have been many changes with BIOS accepting larger and larger hard drives over the last few years. Another thing is "how" was the drive cloned?

I've had great luck with a product called "Ghost". I've tried others but Ghost works the best. The SIDS do represent problems and you need to beware of the version of Ghost and Ghostwalker (which changes the SIDS) you use. Another experience has been with individual drives having problems with too many sector errors and the area on the drive which collects the error remarks is full or even overflowing. When cloning, this will cause problems. Hence, if you want to explain more of how the cloned drive was prepared and version of hardware it runs within, it may help determine what the problem is.
