Maybe in a Perfect World this would be the case. We'd all share everything. But in this world we have a concept of ownership. And you have to buy the right to own a copy of some software. It makes sense. Companies spend a lot of money to publish a piece of software. And they do this to make money. It is only fair to either pay them what they ask or not use the software. If they weren't paid, they wouldn't make the software. And people would start playing outside again. And we'd all be a lot more healthy. And...hey, maybe you're on to something ;~)

Maybe your thinking is a little clouded because of a severe disliking of Ed?
