>I've discovered that this is because the first field of the new record I'm selecting is 'virtually visible' in a logical window that is slightly larger than the actual visable browse window on my display. So, since VFP can 'see' it, there's no reason to update the right hand edit window to bring it into view. (If I select a record which is two skips away, in the current index order, or if I select the previous record, VFP always updates the edit window)

I've even thought of using a grid to achieve my ends, but I'm still not sure how to set it up so that the right hand partition displays all of the fields of a selected record in a column. (I admit, I am trying to avoid the learning curve on grids right now because the browse window almost gives me what I want and I need the quick and dirty fix).

Is it possible that you have unlinked the partitions either in the BROWSE command itself or from the TABLE menu. By default the partitions should be linked and moving the record pointer in one will refresh the other.
