I've had problems with a lot of different programs corrupting data. Almost all of them have been solved by making sure the workstation and server only use the TCP/IP protocol - completely removing NetBEUI and IPX. I have talked to a couple of different companies tech support when I had problems with programs on customers systems, and invariably this is what I end up doing.
The other problem, the write cache on the server and workstation, has already been mentioned. I don't have the link handy, but there is a program on the Lotus web site that shuts it off on both the workstation and NT Server because it causes problems with Notes.
