>Hi ! Im new here and at first sight, i really like this site. Ok, heres my question. I want to develop an ActiveX control in VB. This control will be running as a page in the client browser. The main goal of this control will be to : first - Connect to a Remote database (SQL 7) that is on a different server over the internet and interact with this database. Because the Control is on the client side, I'm a right to think that the connection will not be possible with the database (whit ADODB and ODBC) because the Control is on the client side and the database is on a different machine (server)( not as like an ASP page that reside on the server that send to the client browser information).
> Also, I'm I right to think that I will have to make a DCOM object that will have to reside on the server and be install on Microsoft Transaction Server and if so, could somebody refer me a good book on VB, DCOM and accessing a database over the internet.

And why wouldn't you want to use ASP? I do and it's great.... There are some books on VB and COM/DCOM.
