>>So we moved back to novell 3.2 which seemed to straigten things out. We then upgraded to novell 4.2. now most of these problems are back almost as bad as they were under NT. Novell 3.2 is significantly slower than NT or novell 4.2 and we really really need the speed of novell 4.2.

PMFJI: FWIW - We also have a large FP-2.6a/DOS app that was migrated to Novell 4.11 in January. The apps have over 100,000 lines of code overall, with some tables in the 2.5-million record size and a couple over 1 GB tables. The automatic batch process PCs are pure DOS-6.22, but the user PCs are Win95 with an icon set up to run FP-DOS in a DOS session. We use the latest Novell client software, not M$ versions (which were earlier known to be better than Novell, but Novell has updated/fixed theirs and now have more capability). Drive mappings within the code are handled when needed using NetLib. We have had few problems. Others recently have posted problems here in UT on Novell-4.x migration, but they turned out to be stupid network setup issues like failure to allocate sufficient disk space... We have found speed to be somewhat better under Novell-4.x than Novell-3.x...

In short -- we have not experienced anything wrong with the product, but have seen here and for others that network administrators not experienced or properly trained with the new features of Novell-4.x tend to be the source of all the problems.
