>Talk about a bad day, suddenly my VFP5 is "performing illegal operation" at startup and won't run at all. It's been running fine for months. This is what I've tried so far:

Do you have VFP6 with SP3 installed? Only on one computer, (my main development machine!) have I had this problem. I get the splash screen for VFP5, and it just crashes, no message no nothing. I usually then have to reboot, since the splash screen is on top and everything else comes up behind it. Can't kill it from the task manager, or any other way that I've found. At some point I'm going to try uninstalling VFP5 and VFP6 and try re-installing both of them. I hope that works, as I still need both VFP5 and 6 for awhile longer. (BTW, this is W95a on a 200Mhz Pentium with 88 MB ram)

Another problem I'm having with VFP6 SP3 is on my laptop (AMD K6/333 with 64MB). Very frequently when loading forms, I get "Insufficient memory" errors and then the next error is a "failed to instanciate object" and then a C5 error. After that, I can't load fairly large Windos APP (VFP5, VFP6, Excel, Word, etc). I've checked available resources, and I usually have about 92% free in all three categories. The only solution is to reboot. I've tried removing/re-installing VFP6 (and SP3) here with no luck. VFP5 works on this machine with no problem. We've got a lot of Compaq laptops (Pentium and AMD processors) that exhibit this same behavior, too, but they usually only do it after "waking up" from a suspend mode.

Both of these machines worked perfectly fine with both VFP5 and 6 on them until I installed SP3 for Visual Studio.

Sorry I haven't proposed any solution for you, but if you hear of one, I'd love to hear the answer or suggestions, too! Thanks.
