So far, the old VBA macros have worked for me in the later Office releases, including Office2000.
Try entering the failed operations in the Office product after turning on the macro recorder. After pressing the stop button, take a look at the code in the VBA editor. You can copy the code to a text file to compare against the code in your program.
Office VBA is pretty good about being backward compatible. You will probably find that your code references constants that were not used in the older version .
