Some ideas:

- use a thermometer from www.west-wind.com then increase and decrease the percent done (ie, increment the amount done until you reach the max then start decrementing
- put up WAIT WINDOW "performing task n" NOWAIT for each command so that the screen is constantly updated
- define a window then set talk to the window and output ? "performing task n"
to the window
- display a form with a timer that changes the forecolor of a label that says "processing" back and forth between black and red

just off the top of my head.

>in the old days i was able to get by with a flasing proceesing... on dos screen to let my users know that their app. was running. i see that vfp has progress boxes showing percentage complete when someting is going on. I tried using the progress thermometer but that does not seem to do what i am looking for. The problem is if you dont know how long a process will take or dont know what the increment of the progress bar will be how do you apply this.
>any suggestions. it seems as though i am completely overlooking something.
