Hi,
Today we received word from a customer that our FPW2.6 app will not run on new Pentium III's with the latest Win 98 (Edition 2). The customer contacted Microsoft and was told that because Win98/E2 does not have a link to a DOS kernel that any old 16 bit programs like FPW2.6 will NEVER run under the new Win98. We're not sure if the customer got the info correct but he was absolutely sure the techie said FPW will not run under Win98/E2. We are running the patched version for fast CPU's which has been running fine on other fast Pentiums with no problem.
Has anyone else heard this bit of news? If so, has it been confirmed by Microsoft? If this is true, it's a real show stopper for some of our new customers. This means that Microsoft has adopted Apple's techniques when upgrading operating systems... bummer.
