Before answering we need to establish som parameters.
- Do you want your divisor a multiple of 2 like 1/2,1/8 etc..
- do you want to go below a certain divisor like th smallest should be 1/32 ...

otherwise you'll en up wit a number like 13/12345 and user might think you are crazy.

In an architectural environment where people have to eventually build by your dimensions I would suggest 8 as a maximum divisor as in 1/8
In furniture making 32 as in 1/32

or swith to the metric system and you are all set.
