Thanks everyone for the quick response on the field phrase problem. In answer to all that information:

All the combo's and list boxes are type 6 - fields.

All the rowsources are alias.field1, field2

I think all the views are opened properly on form start because there is data in all of the combo boxes.

However, I am requerying some of the views and trying to update some of those combo boxes, could the problem lie in there?
