Different companies have differenct licensing. Borland uses the "library book" method. Install as many copies as you wish, as long as only 1 copy is in use at a time. With 1 license, I can install Delphi on my desktop at home, my notebook, as well as a copy at a client's to enable me to track down problems on site.

Given the above example, is this piracy? I'm certain that M$ would consider it so.

When a product update is released, what happens to the older version? Example:
I have a version of Borland's Pascal 6.0. It is no longer available. I purchased the updgrades to 7.0 and Delphi 1.0 - 4.0. Can I still develop software for clients who want something this old?
