I am trying to create a setup.exe for a Visual FoxPro 5.0 application in WinNT using the Setup Wizard. Everything works fines and installs okay except for one problem. After I installed the application using the setup.exe that I created I get the error 'The fields in table tableX did not match the entries in the database' -Error 1984 -with one of my tables. All the other tables in the same database work fine.

To create the setup.exe I had to place all the files needed, including my app.exe into a distribution directory. When I run my app.exe from this directory I have no errors and the database and all the tables are okay. Because of this I am concluding that something is corrupting my table during the setup wizard or during the installation of my application from the setup.exe program. it is also interesting to note that the first couple of times I created a setup I didn't receive this error. It has only occurred lately but the database and table stuctures never changed - just the foxpro code.

I have validated the database and it just repeated the error message for that table. However the same database is fine in the distribution directory. I have changed the installation source and destination directories to see if that would work. No luck.

I found a related article in TechNet. It didn't help. I also checked the help files and they, of course, were useless.

If anybody has any solutions or ideas I am eager to hear them.

Thanks,

Alicia Ross
