I'll dispute it. It depends on the school. Many large schools are so large that a curreiculum change takes an act of congress, so they are sitll teaching outdated technologies and methodologies. But good ones stay in touch with the IT community and even have curriculum committees made up entirely of technology companies in the area.

I would take a college grad in a heartbeat, but the real proof is in the pudding, and should come out in the interview.

I wouldn't even consider skipping college if I had to do it all over again... it was too important a part of my life, both career-wise and socially.
