I hope you won't mind me interjecting my 2 BEF here, but I hear you assimilating the OOP paradigm with a mere syntax upgrade. I think that is a bit exagerated.
The fact is that as application programmers, we cannot profit from the depth of OOP at this moment in time because our tools are too primitive. System programmers on the contrary have proven that OOP works: see Windows, see the visual interface of all the languages. Without OOP (and I mean polymorfism and inheritance) they would not be what they are!
