Hi Jerry

>Take a look at http://www.wgs.com/fsad.html

will do...

>FlagShip 4.4 is a port of Clipper (compatible through 5.3) that has been expanded by combining technologies from Basic, C, C++, Perl,.... well, you can read the hype for yourself at that URL. It would compare to FP 2.6 in RAD appearance. Code generated in FS will port to 2.6 and visa-versa if you install the "FoxKit", which helps compatibility with some of the more esoteric FP commands. I didn't use it because I was looking for an event driven environment in Linux (I run SuSE 6.1).

I'm just dabbling at the edges of linux myself. Already impressed by its power and reliability. Although it is tempting to port my main app to linux via flagship or something of that ilk, like you I recognise the inevitabilty of the event model. Hopefully it won't be too long before one of the linus whizkids gets us an appropriate environment for using vfp...

You wouldn't know which platform you are running if looking at the VA Java app provided your only clues. Because of the way VFP is being treated by MS our assessment of its long term prospects are dismal so we are looking for another development platform for our intranet. The boss has chosen Java. We can develop on an M$ or Linux platform without concern for the platform.

I would sacrifice one or two sacred relics to be free of Microsoft...

Perhaps the Foxpro community should collectively offer to buy it back!

Cheers
