I there a way to prevent the mouse cursor from changing into an hour glass when timer events are fireing?

I have a simple animation class that 'eats' accumulated events that animates an icon at an interval of 333 (~3 times per sec). Even though there is no other activity going on, the mouse cursor constantly changes to the hourglass regardless of the mouse over event of the form and controls changing the property.
