In this case they mean a DataBase server... could be MS-SQL, Oracle,... also, Client Server has come to mean web aps where the front end (VFP or HTML) talks to a VFP application running on IIS4. The applicatoin could be using local tables, but you'd still call this client server.
Client Server is a pretty generic term.
