OK, I am not going to stop here by answering a question with a question. <g> I haven't tried this in VFP5 yet, but in FPW2.6 I don't have a problem. Bear with me on this stupid question, but... do you mean you actually have a tag in a CDX file named DELETED()? How about doing the same thing except something where the tag is called DELETED instead. INDEX ON DELETED() TAG DELETED OF MYDATA.CDX ADDITIVE or something to that effect.
