I'm trying to send email by connecting to an SMTP server. West-wind may have that stuff, but it costs. The Winsock control is free and distributable and already located in most operating systems. There is also a control for FTPing and the like. With the Winsock control, however, you can create a client or a server. If I can get this to work, I can connect either TCP or UDP, which leaves my possibilities wide open.
