In fact, I know of more than a couple of people (with Ph.D.s in Computer Science) that'll be happy to argue with anyone that OOP grew out of SP. When I first encountered OOP, what struck me was how similar it was to SP, not how different. A lot of the same concepts, though in some ways referred to differently.

Actually, most of the code is the same. It's where you put it, and when does it run.
