I haven't been using VFP for long, but I am experienced in a few other languages, include VB, C, Etc..

But, (I'm embarassed to admit), I've been stumped by VFP's Textbox control.

When you first assign a value to a Textbox it seems to trigger some kind of validation that occurs for subsequent entries, e.g.

If I were to set the Value propert of a textbox to Date() anything else I try to type in evokes a box saying 'Not a Valid Date'. I have found no way to intercept this message, the only thing I can think of is to ensure all data is converted to String before assigning it, but surely there must be a better way?

Any feedback appreciated.
