Do you get that message even for valid dates?

>If I were to set the Value propert of a textbox to Date() anything else I try to type in evokes a box saying 'Not a Valid Date'. I have found no way to intercept this message, the only thing I can think of is to ensure all data is converted to String before assigning it, but surely there must be a better way?
